Carhartt WIP Relevant Parties Vol. 2 - On-U Sound
Share
In this 2nd advance of Volume 2 of the Relevant Parties at your La La Land Store we will focus on the On-U Sound label led by English dub producer Adrian Sherwood.
Adrian is also the founder of two other labels, Green Tea and Pressure Sounds. As a producer he worked with big names like Vivian Goldman, Creation Rebel, Cabaret Voltaire, Lee "Scratch" Perry, while helping to remix works for Primal Scream, Depeche Mode and Einstürzernde Neubauten.
Its most influential label, On-U Sound is stylistically rooted in dub, experimental, reggae, post-punk and electronica, being known for having released some important artists and collectives such as African Head Charge and Singers&PlayerstoBimShermanandTackhead. More recently he has worked with Japanese trio Nisennenmondai, UK group The Near Jazz Experience as well as Bristol dubstep artist Pinch.
In this episode of Relevant Parties you will be able to hear the conversation between Chal Ravens and Adrian Sherwood where they discuss the adventures of when he lived together with Ari Up and Neneh Cherry, the philosophy of dub reggae and why you shouldn't trust a hippy. You can listen to the podcast below.
