Boné ou sem boné — essa nem é a questão

Cap or no cap — that's not even the question

Portugal in September still doesn't know summer is over. The thermometer insists, the sun takes advantage, and you're there leaving the house at three in the afternoon as if it were a good idea. This is where a cap stops being a matter of style and becomes a matter of survival. The good news is that you don't have to choose between protecting your head and looking good — the two are perfectly compatible, as long as you know what you're doing.

Four new Carhartt WIP models have just arrived at La La Land Store. They are distinct caps, with different personalities, and all of them have one thing in common: they look good and withstand the sun without drama.

Blackletter Cap — for those who speak Gothic but dress casual

Carhartt WIP Blackletter Cap in Black — three-quarter front view without model, six panels in black twill, Carhartt WIP embroidery in white blackletter typography on the front visor, flat brim, white background.

The Blackletter Cap is an unstructured six-panel cap in cotton twill, with a flat brim and a metal buckle at the back. What distinguishes it is the embroidery on the front: the Carhartt WIP name in blackletter typography — that gothic serif font that appears in old newspaper headlines, full-sleeve tattoos, and metal album covers. Here it appears in a completely different context, on plain cotton twill, which creates a contrast that works precisely because it is unexpected.

Available in Dark Navy and Black. The Navy is more versatile — it goes with almost everything. The black is more assertive. Choose according to your mood.

Bumper Sticker Cap — the cap that doesn't try to be anything

The Bumper Sticker Cap is the opposite of the Blackletter. Where that one proclaims, this one whispers. It's a six-panel cotton cap with a small graphic on the front panel — discreet, almost casual in the most literal sense of the word. The name "Bumper Sticker" says it all: it's the kind of detail you notice when you look closely, and that goes unnoticed by those who don't pay attention.

It comes in four colors: White, Black, Pontiki — a very soft pinkish-beige — and Curacao, which is a more prominent turquoise blue. White and Pontiki are the easiest to wear in the heat; Curacao is for those who want a pop of color effortlessly.

Arch Script Cap — the classic with an update

Carhartt WIP Arch Script Cap in Black — three-quarter front view, black five-panel nylon cap with golden CARHARTT WIP arched embroidery and a stiff, flat brim, white background.

The Arch Script is one of Carhartt WIP's most recognizable models. The arch logo — the "Carhartt WIP" letters in an arc — is one of the brand's oldest visual signatures, and here it appears embroidered on the front panel of a structured six-panel cap with a curved brim. It's the most "traditional" of the four caps, in a good way: there are situations where you don't want to explain the cap, you just want to wear it.

It's available in three colors: Dark Navy, Dusty H Brown — a very nineties dusty brown — and Black. Brown is the most interesting option for those who already have Navy and Black in their closet.

Wiptopia 2 — because sometimes the name is enough

The Wiptopia 2 is the most graphic of the four. The front panel features a print that plays with the Carhartt WIP universe in a more elaborate way — it's the kind of cap that completes an outfit rather than just complementing it. Available in White, it works as a visual anchor in a more sober ensemble or as a starting point for something with more movement.

So, which one is yours?

If this were a technical comparison table, it would look like this: the Blackletter is for those who like a detail with history; the Bumper Sticker for those who prefer the cap not to scream; the Arch Script for those who want a classic without complications; and the Wiptopia 2 for those who want the cap to be part of the conversation.

But caps don't work that way. Choose based on what you feel like wearing, not what the spec sheet says. The sun won't ask if your cap is structured or unstructured.
